Brain Health Initiative Participation Form

Thank you for your interest in the Building a Brain Healthy Community Initiative at Lakewood Ranch.

The Brain Health Initiative seeks to position Lakewood Ranch and the Greater Gulf Coast Region as the epicenter for groundbreaking brain health research. The initiative will bring together community leaders, residents and stakeholders from the region, as well as an interdisciplinary team of researchers and clinicians from across Massachusetts General Hospital, the Harvard campus, the Academy for Brain Health and Performance, and regional, state, national and global collaborators. This Brain Health Initiative, including the longitudinal brain health study and the Brain Health Innovation Lab, has the potential to advance our understanding of the brain and develop interventions and validate and test feasibility of innovations to enhance brain health and optimize performance across the lifespan.

Developing a brain healthy community that can be measured and replicated will take all of us.  Thank you for participating in your own brain health and helping us create the infrastructure to inspire brain health promotion, preservation, protection and optimization for our greater community.  We have the opportunity to make a difference globally and to drive our region to become a leader in brain health science and applications to improve outcomes.

We have selected the Gulf Coast Region to bring our work.  It is now up to the change agents in this region, each of you and many others, to see that this opportunity can become a reality.

As you may already be aware, there are many ways to participate in the initiative: Research Participant, Volunteer, Donor, Friend (stay informed), Research Assistant, and Collaborator.

At this time our team is on campus at Harvard focusing on developing the community engagement and research plan for phased activities that will be completed over the next 18 months. This Fall, we will be sending an invitation to Gulf Coast community residents who have expressed interest in the BHI to participate in round table discussion about the next steps.

In the meantime, because you have expressed interest in the project, we will send you updates on our progress and notifications of any upcoming brain health related events in the region. Once we are ready to mobilize our efforts with regards to participants, we will contact you.
